Pisa becomes “RoboTown”, City of robots, due to the second edition of the International Robotics Festival, hosted also this year edition, from 27th September to 3rd October 2018, in the Tuscan city that boasts one of the highest concentrations in the world of workers and of activities for the research, development, application of robotic systems towards ever wider sectors, which nowadays involve (and improve) every aspect of our daily life. After the debut of 2017, characterized by a record success with over 10 thousand attendances, the network of the Public Institutions of Pisa confirms the significance and relevance of the Festival as a key element for planning further territorial development. to increase its notoriety worldwide and, above all, to demonstrate how robotics, in all its forms, is a technology that is friendly to humans. The robotic systems, in fact, are at the service of man to help him and to facilitate him, never to replace him, unless he is to perform heavy and dangerous tasks.
Locations are increased to meet the needs of a program to meet the needs of a program that includes more numerous areas of interest and that distributes locations on the territory, from Versilia area to Pontedera area, along with Arno Valley. In Pisa, we remind : Arsenali Repubblicani and Stazione Leopolda, Convento delle Benedettine, Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Navicelli, Opera della Primaziale Pisana, Chamber of Commerce of Pisa, ENEL Research Center of Pisa, Industrial Union of Pisa, Domus Mazziniana of Pisa, Officine Garibaldi of Pisa, Palazzo della Sapienza of Pisa, Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Natural Park, Torre Guelfa della Cittadella of Pisa, Museum of Ancient Ships of Pisa with the Shipyard of the Ancient Ships and the Center of Wet Wood Restoration. With the new edition are added the Puccini Theater in Torre del Lago (Lucca) and the Piaggio Foundation in Pontedera (Pisa).
The program is taking shape and already includes many events of a scientific, educational, musical and cultural aim, to respond to the needs of a wide and varied audience, just as the presence of robotics – understood in the broadest sense of the word – is wide. daily life. Events are planned on the contribution of robotics in healthcare, in humanitarian cooperation, in pleasure boating, also to allow people with different disabilities to face a safe sea voyage, in sport, in the industry, and in the labor market. The reflection will focus on the ethical, social, economic implications linked to the increasingly massive diffusion of robotics, without neglecting aspects that involve the “green economy”, the recovery and conservation of cultural heritage, medicine, also exploring the role of professions such as that of the nurse in the management of new technologies.
